Mountain Engagement Photos with Alex and Joe at Brainard Lake
Brainard lake in the Indian Peaks Wilderness is a great location for mountain engagement photos in Colorado. I met Alex and Joe there over the summer. I’ve actually found myself at this location many times this year. Its a beautiful place to do portraits with a lovely alpine lake framed by large mountain peaks. And its just an hour drive from Boulder. It feels more remote than it actually is. When we arrived for our portrait session, everything around the lake was turning green. We lucked out with a warm day and just a few clouds in the sky which made for a wonderful portrait session.
Alex and Joe’s Story
Its always fun to hear how couples come together to meet. Alex and Joe met through a co-ed softball league. Shortly after they met playing together, they started dating. They are both pretty outdoorsy people who love to ski, play tennis, and ride bikes. During our portrait session they were up for scrambling on top of a large boulder which gave us a really stunning vantage point of the mountains there around the lake. It was fun to hike around the lake with them and take in scenery as we took portraits.
Mountain Wedding and Mountain Engagement Photos
Alex and Joe are doing a mountain wedding this coming February. They wanted to keep with the mountain theme for their engagement session also. That’s one of the reasons why we picked Brainard Lake for our portrait location. I’m looking forward to some snowy mountain photos for their upcoming wedding around Silverthorne. They told me they are hoping for snow but hopefully not a full blown blizzard. I hope so too. Since they love to ski, they decided to make a weekend wedding/ski event celebration out of their big day.
